Eshra7ly College Platform
Private bilingual college platform for assignments, exams, schedules, and student discussion.
Project Overview
Eshra7ly is a private study platform for Abdelrhman Diab's college cohort. Students use it to follow subjects, complete assignments and exams, organize study work, and discuss course material. Staff and student leaders have separate tools for publishing and reviewing content. The interface has Arabic and English routes.
The problem
Course work spread across messages and files is hard to find and hard to administer. An assignment needs a deadline, submissions, and grading; an exam needs controlled publication and attempts. The platform puts those workflows behind accounts and subject permissions so students can find their work in one place.
Key features
- Students register and sign in; administrators review pending accounts and can approve or deactivate them.
- Staff publish assignments, receive student submissions with files, review teams, and grade the submitted work.
- Exam authoring includes draft, review, approval, rejection, attempts, and question-bank workflows.
- The schedule combines weekly slots and exceptions, with a student calendar and an iCalendar export.
- The community feed supports posts, attachments, comments, likes, and reports.
- Students can keep notes, flashcards, tasks, and a study planner alongside their course work.
- A private file library lets students manage their own uploads while administrators review stored files.
Technical architecture
A Next.js App Router frontend calls a NestJS API. MongoDB stores accounts, subjects, assignments, exams, posts, and file metadata. Redis backs API throttling when configured; the API otherwise uses in-process counters. Uploaded files use local storage or an S3-compatible object store according to configuration. The web app passes an HTTP-only session cookie to server-side API calls. The API also connects to Groq for essay grading; essays that cannot be scored automatically enter a review flow.
Engineering highlights
- Role and subject-scoped access checks protect staff actions and student term data.
- Assignment and exam flows keep publication, submission, and review as explicit states.
- Arabic and English routes share the application while keeping each interface localized.
- API, component, and browser test files cover the main workflows.
